This was the last day. I’m writing this the day after, after having a whole fiasco with my flight back.
- A recurser had set up brunch in the hub with a bunch of others, so I joined them and grabbed a bagel at a nearby spot. It was solid! I don’t think I like vegetable cream cheese though (except at Noah’s)
- This meeting then turned into the weekly friday crossword meeting! It was the first time I’ve done the large crossword with a group of people, which made it much easier to handle.
- Then hung out a bit with some other recursers and met up with one of the faculty members. We had a fun conversation about how to make the Bay Area recurse group more lively. I want to try, even if it may not result in anything.
- Chatted with some people on the quiet floor, and then attended the end of batch ceremony. Was cool seeing everyone’s niceties presented.
- After that, the group that was working on AI/ML met up for some AIce Cream! We went to Dekalb and then hung out in the nearby park.
- Spent some time in the hub with people playing games and chatting, and then took the train back home to work on packing all my stuff up.
I’ll need to write a dedicated return statement at some point, but for now — Recurse has been a highlight in my life. I hope to stay involved, continue learning, and maybe even do another batch one day. Brooklyn was beautiful, especially Bed-Stuy where I stayed. The community was rich and the walks were sun-filled. While I can’t say I’ll miss the weather, the people and experiences will stick around for a while.
