Had a nice memorial day weekend, Kelly came up and so we spent most of the weekend in Manhattan. I don’t think it’ll happen, but living in NY temporarily seems like it’d be fun. I do think that it’s still the rose tinted glasses though. After a while, the issues catch up to the pleasures.

Today we had the pairing jam and it was really fun:

  • Decided to work on a “tinder” for RCers to help them match projects and find who to pair with
  • It’s nice being on the “navigating” side of things. Worked with a bunch of people today and some weren’t super familiar with how python environment set up works. I was able to help guide that a bit. I also got a chance to learn how other languages do it with package managers, and I think it’s making me appreciate tools like poetry and uv more.
  • That was the main focus of the day! Didn’t really do much else coding wise. However, I did meet someone who plays the gamelan, which is really cool. I’ve wanted to see a gamelan performance in Indonesia ever since taking the music of Bali class in college. Sounds like there’s going to be a performance in the near future, which I’ll try to make it out to!
